Tianchisaurus was a genus of ankylosaur dinosaur in the family Ankylosauridae. Only one species is known of this genus: T. nedegoapeferima. It lived during Middle Jurassic period in China and was probably one of the first members of the Ankylosauridae. Therefore, it woulld have been more primitive than later ankylosaurs. For example, it didn't possess the bony club at the tip of its tail that the ankylosaurids of the Late Cretaceous period would have had.

Name[]

It is the name of the type species of this genus that links it to Jurassic Park. Steven Spielberg, who has funded Chinese dinosaur research, proposed the name Jurassosaurus for the genus, after the movie Jurassic Park, but Dong Zhiming preferred the name Tianchisaurus instead.

The name of the species, that Spielberg proposed, was retained: nedegoapeferima. The name is formed from the first letters of the surnames of the film's main stars: Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Bob Peck, Martin Ferrero, Ariana Richards, and Joseph Mazzello.

Games[]

Jurassic World: Primal Ops[]

Tianchisaurus was going to appear in Jurassic World: Primal Ops.[1] However due to the game's closure it was never added. If it was added, Tianchisaurus would of been part of the Ankylosaurus family.
