Torvoneustes is an extinct genus of metriorhynchid thalattosuchian from the Jurassic period that comes from the Kimmeridge Clay Formation of Dorset and Wiltshire, England. The fossils were also found in Switzerland and Mexico. The holotype skull was initially assigned to a species of Metriorhynchus before postcranial remains lead it to be recognized as a new species of Dakosaurus in 2008, called D. carpenteri. It was then reassigned as a species of Geosaurus in 2009. The specimens would finally receive its own genus two years later. T. carpenteri is meant to honour Simon Carpenter, an amateur geologist from Frome in Somerset, England, whom he discovered the fossils. Torvoneustes has a long and smaller snout, with more numerous teeth being features retained from basal metriorhynchids. Because of this, scientists believe that it is a transitional form between metriorhynchids and dakosaurids. Torvoneustes also a false-ziphodont dentition.
