Trailer II is the nineteenth chapter in the Fourth Configuration. It centres of Kelly learning from her idol, Sarah, that all she has learnt from her mother, teachers and schoolmates were incorrect.
Plot[]
The chapter begins with Kelly Curtis amazes that she actually gets to see her idol Sarah Harding, well her dirty clothes while Harding is in the shower. Kelly is about to touch the clothing until she hears Harding calling her and amazed that the animal behaviorist remembers Kelly's name. Harding asks for shampoo and Kelly still shocked, quickly looked for it. The text reveals that the two of them are alone with the male folk in the next compartment. Harding calls again, telling Kelly not to worry if there isn't any shampoo. Instead, she asks for dishwashing liquid, and doesn't care, stating it is the same in her view. Next, Sarah shows how informal she is, telling Kelly not to address her as Dr. Harding but by her first name. Kelly, however, is still nervous.
Kelly still nervous, waits in case Sarah needs anything else and hears her humming, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair. As she exits the shower, Sarah further shows how much she cares for her own appearance by simply running her fingers through her hair. She also praises the trailer's appearance and asks for Kelly's age, however, gets the school year incorrect and Kelly tells her there's clean clothes left by Ian Malcolm, possibly Eddie Carr's. Sarah then asks Kelly what she plans to do when she grows up and praises Kelly's unsure answer. Sarah proceeds to state that "Nobody smart knows what they want to do until they get into their twenties or thirties." Kelly answers Sarah that she loves studying math, although Sarah senses her nervous tone. Kelly continues to admit that girls aren't suppose to be good at math and Sarah doesn't understand Kelly. Kelly remains silent as she feels the warm feeling with Sarah dissipating.
Fully dressed, Sarah continues to ask why Kelly states girls aren't suppose to be good in mathematics. Kelly admits that is what her school teachers told her and her school mates bully her for excelling in the subject. Kelly is still shocked to reveal her personal life to someone she deeply admires and only knows through articles and books. They both further chat and Kelly explains that boys don't like girls who are smart in math and she admits that what is her mother keep saying. She admits though her mother dates jerks when Sarah says Kelly's mom must be right.
Finally Sarah comforts Kelly, saying that there's nothing wrong and mentions George Schaller, who studies pandas. Sarah details what other animals Schaller studies, however reveals that he studiously reads up on each animal before he heads to observe it in the field. The result is that every fact written is mostly incorrect. Sarah concludes by telling Kelly that everything people tell her at her age may be ninety-five percent incorrect and humans are full of misinformation. Sarah further states that even her mother and some of her professors never believed she Sarah could succeed.
Their conversation is abruptly interrupted from cries from Malcolm. They find all the men minus Levine crowding around the monitors and a jeep shows on the screen. Malcolm cries it is Lewis Dodgson. He asks Arby where the jeep is and the young boy says it's in the east valley, near where they initially found Richard Levine. Levine radios, shocked to hear there are others on the island and says the team should stop the Biosyn group lest they mess things up. Sarah says to Malcolm that's his friend Dodgson and learns he's not Malcolm's friend. The chapter ends with Malcolm saying they really need to stop Dodgson's team.
