Trailer IV is the seventh chapter in the Fifth Configuration. After extreme difficulty, Harding and Malcolm escape before one of the trailers falls off the cliffs.

Sarah Harding holds on to the top of one of the trailers, feeling dripping water which means the accordion connector was beginning to leak. She knows the connector will really snap very soon and the trailer where Ian Malcolm is still in will drop down. She calls his name, and he painfully resist moving but she insist they will move, asking him if rope is available. He's still resisting to move due to his injuries, however, ever the muscular woman, she offers to carry him. As she climbs, he gives her support remarking she is a strong girl and she admits she's still feminine. Grabbing the rope, she finally finds the driver's door and Doc Thorne greets her, with a sarcastic remark, she telling him of Malcolm's injuries.
In the High Hide, Kelly Curtis notes that Arby Benton is typically not confident given the whole situation and just staring out towards the river. She learns from Richard Levine that Thorne entered the once-sliding trailer and Harding exited alone. Thorne tells Harding they need the rope to rescue Malcolm and she has to climb out on her own. Arby after one lighting flash has spotted figures moving and is waiting for the next flash to confirm what they are.
Harding with the rope, ties it to a metal bracket and throws it down to Thorne. In turn, he ties it around Malcolm and he rose, Malcolm's body however block Thorne's view. Thorne is full of fear as the connector is really snapping apart. Malcolm is finally pulled up with Harding's help and she turns her attention to Thorne, extending her hand and giving him encouragement. For Thorne, it is naturally a painful climb even with the aid of the rope and he slips though Harding caught him and pulled him out. At this moment, the trailer finally falls off.
