An unidentified Cretaceous mosquito is an unknown species of insect that only appeared in a scene from Jurassic World: Dominion: The Prologue.

History[]

Jurassic World: Dominion: The Prologue[]

During a flashback to the Cretaceous, some Cretaceous mosquitoes can be seen buzzing around some Dreadnoughtus (along with some locusts) and Ankylosaurus drinking water. Later on, after the Giganotosaurus kills a feathered T. rex, a Cretaceous mosquito can be seen landing on the now dead rex and sucking its blood. Afterwords, it flies of as the Giganotosaurus walks away.

Identity[]

The mosquito could potentially be the extinct species Burmaculex antiquus, which lived around the same time as the prologue's Giganotosaurus. However, it may just represent a generic prehistoric animal, with its species being irrelevant.

Trivia[]

  • In a behind the scenes interview from IGN for Jurassic World: Dominion: The Prologue, Colin Trevorrow confirmed that the Cretaceous mosquito that took blood from the feathered T. rex is the same mosquito which contained the DNA that lead to the creation of Rexy.[1]
